Boat Bathroom Essentials-WHAT We Actually Use (and Love) ⚓️

If you’ve ever stepped into a boat bathroom… you already know—space is tight, moisture is constant, and if something doesn’t work *really well*, it becomes a problem fast.
Living aboard full-time has definitely made us simplify what we keep on board. Everything has to earn its place. It needs to be compact, easy to clean, quick to dry, and honestly… just make life feel a little more normal out here.
So these are the bathroom essentials we actually use every single day on our boat—and the ones that have truly held up over time.
🧼 Towels That Actually Work at Sea
First up are our **NOMADIX towels**, and these have been a game changer for us.
We have four onboard—one for each of us—and we chose different designs so there’s no confusion on whose is whose (because trust me… that matters when you’re living this close together 😅).
We’ve gone through *a lot* of towels over the years, and these are by far our favorites. They:
* Fold down super small (huge win for boat storage)
* Dry really fast (no damp towel smell 🙌)
* Hold their color (even with constant use)
* And they’re still big enough to actually wrap up in comfortably
On a boat, you just can’t have bulky, slow-drying towels—and these check every box.
⚖️ Travel Scales (Because Yes… I Still Weigh Myself Daily)
This one might not be for everyone—but if you’re like me and like to keep track daily, these **travel-size scales** are perfect.
I’ve had both of these and they work great. They’re:
* Compact enough to store easily
* Lightweight
* Accurate and consistent
It’s one of those small things that just helps keep a sense of routine, even when life is constantly moving.
🚿 The Bath Mat That Finally Solved the Problem
Let’s talk bath mats… because if you know, you know.
Regular bath mats on a boat?
* Stay wet forever
* Start to smell
* Just don’t hold up
That’s why we switched to the **DORI stone bath mat**, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back.
What I love about it:
* It dries almost instantly
* No mildew, no smell
* Super easy to clean (I literally clean it the same way I clean my shower)
It’s one of those upgrades that makes a *huge* difference in a small space.
🧴 A Soap Dispenser That Actually Lasts
Another simple swap that made a big difference—our **DORI soap dispenser**.
If you’ve lived on a boat, you’ve probably dealt with:
* Rusty pumps
* Tarnished finishes
* Things just not holding up in the marine environment
This one doesn’t do any of that.
Plus, it has that clean, modern look that just makes the space feel a little more put together.
💧 The Little Thing That Keeps Everything Clean
And then there’s the **DORI stone tray**—which might sound small, but it makes a big difference.
With kids (and let’s be honest… adults too), there’s always water and soap getting everywhere. What I love about this tray:
* It dries quickly
* Keeps things from sitting in water
* Has a slight lift so moisture doesn’t get trapped underneath
It just helps keep everything cleaner without extra effort—which is exactly what you want in a boat bathroom.
⚓️ Final Thoughts
When you’re living aboard, it’s not about having *more*—it’s about having the **right things**.
Everything in our bathroom has been swapped out over time for pieces that:
* Dry fast
* Save space
* Hold up in a marine environment
* And make daily life just a little bit easier
These are the items that made the cut—and the ones we’d bring with us again without hesitation.
If you’re living on a boat, traveling full-time, or just trying to make a small space work better… these are definitely worth it 💛
